Hello wine lovers, here is the recap for our July meeting. I think it is understood by now that each meeting is a lot of fun, but if I don't write it, maybe some will think it wasn't. Of course we had a great time! Krista and Brian made it for the first time! Yea! And we have also officially inducted our youngest member, their daughter Sam, at 8-weeks old. She wasn't very talkative, but I think she's still warming up to all of us. :)
The theme for this meeting was Merlot and/or Chardonnay. We didn't actually make it to the Chardonnay (ahem...they were late...) but that is for the best because we tried plenty of reds to make the night as interesting as always.
$12.00 Wines
Happy Camper, California - 2006 Merlot: Very smooth and easy to drink, would pair easily with almost anything
Dynamite, North Coast - 2003 Merlot: very spicy with a finish that builds at the end, some tannins; this one was polarizing becasue of the boldness - some really liked it, some not so much
Red Diamond, Washington State - 2004 Merlot: this was a nice follow to the previous, much smoother and a little sweet; very yummy
$6.00 Wines
Meridian, California - 2004 Merlot: this one is notable because it was very well liked and a great value for the price, definitely a favorite
Smoking Loon, California - 2005 Pinot Noir: I remember something about this wine....just nothing specific. Ask Mary, she said she would remember....hmmmmm.......maybe I should start taking better notes. I think we all liked it, but it was different.
